FIXING COUNTRY BRIDGES – SINGLE SPAN BRIDGE DESIGN AND ENVIRONMENTAL APPROVALS

Service Type: Bridge, Road Designs and Environmental Approvals

Location: Ten locations in Port Macquarie Hastings Council Local Government Area.

The Problem: Ten aging timber bridges approaching their end of service life requiring replacement.

The Outcome: Bridge Knowledge was able to assist Port Macquarie Hastings Council by providing a complete design and approvals package including:

• Staged detailed design development (concept, 50%, 100% and IFT/IFC) with road alignment and extent of approach works, bridge position and arrangement, and construction footprint, including site compound and storage requirements, and defined construction staging.
• Project Estimates at each key stage of the project to ensure solutions match funding.
• Flood, Hydrology and Hydraulics Impact Assessment (FHHIA).
• Safety in Design and Risk Assessments for each site.
• Road Safety Audit for each site.
• Environmental Assessment and approvals.
• Apply and Obtain Crown Licence Approval (Where required).
• Authority Stakeholder Consultation – Required for necessary approvals and permits.
• Monthly and Milestone Reporting.
• Overall, four of the ten sites were able to be replaced with culverts saving funds.
