The Problem: Improving Road Safety
The primary project objective is to improve road safety by reducing the likelihood and severity of crashes by:

  • Widening existing formation and increase seal width to provide a consistent and predictable road environment.
  • Improved road safety via treatments such as wide centreline treatment (WCLT), increased shoulders widths and safety barriers.
  • Upgrade existing road signage.
  • The overall length of the project is 4.2 km and includes approximately 41,350m2 of existing pavement surface area.

The Timeframe: Design required to allow construction to commence in 2022.

The Outcome: Bridge Knowledge supported TfNSW by providing detailed design for the 4.2km section of the New England Highway including all applicable fencing, property adjustment, noise barriers, drainage, sub surface drainage, erosion and sediment control, flood control, earthworks, retaining walls, pavement, landscaping, safety barriers, roadside furniture, pavement marking, signage and all additional related work required for the operation of the project.
